Rebel in the Making

Image
Welcome, Fellow Rebel. Even as we speak, I'm enjoying a cherry Jolly Rancher and listening to some German music. A friend of mine introduced me to a German rock band, AnnenMayKantereit , that his brother listened to while taking language classes through school. I have to say, I'm really loving them. How nice is it when you can appreciate other people and artistic endeavors even when you can't understand everything they're saying. I mean, I looked up the lyrics and the translation of said lyrics, and I have to say, hearing this song in its original version is perfection. The voice, instruments, and emotion of the lyrics come across even better than an English translation. It's nice to have an emotional connection to songs and to understand what is being sung despite the langauge barrier.  As most of you know, I've incorporated the German language into my newest, historical fiction novel, The Battle . This look into the language and culture as wel...

If At First You Don't Succeed

I started the year of 2018 with a goal. I was going to read 100 books. I was excited. There are so many books I've wanted to read and have stacked across my room. The wonderful authors, characters, and stories waiting for me to dive in and find out more about them are overwhelming.     However, I failed my Goodreads Goal of 100 books for 2018.  I was disappointed in my failure. Reading is my happy place. See: Currently, I'm in the middle of five books. They're all WWII related, and I'm enjoying them, but I can't hurry through them since I'm reading them for research. You can understand my conundrum.  Now, I have started two other books. Like many of you, I want to learn and grow, and I am in the middle of Day Job to Dream Job  by Kary Oberbrunner. I love this author's dedication to "igniting souls on fire" and helping the world find that dreams can come true if you're willing to put in the work and the attitude. I've ...

Cover Reveal For The Battle Is Here!

Image
Hey, Readers!  Thanks for sticking with me throughout my writing journey! I really appreciate your support, reviews, emails, and social media shares. You've all been wonderful, and I want to thank you for continuing with me as I create a whole new series.  The Battle has been a passionate and inspiring story for me to tell, and I've been working with some of the very best alpha and beta readers to make it the greatest story I can. Their feedback has been invaluable, and I've loved sharing a story so close to my heart with such avid readers. I can't wait to share some sneak peek chapters with all of you, and right now, I'm excited to share the first mock-up cover for The Four Chronicles: The Battle .  What do you think? A world war, a dangerous mystery, and a fairytale love. A world war isn't meant to stop true love.  A dangerous mystery might destroy lives and take the war to a whole new, devastating level.  A fairytale love could die o...

Book Reviews: Kasie West

Finding a new book is one of the most therapeutic processes in the world. I love reading the synopsis on the back, smelling the inside, flipping through the pages, and looking over the front covers. It's like having a new gift to open and explore.  I usually find lifelong friends within the pages of a book. It's enjoyable to meet them on the first page and take a journey with them all the way to the end. Their growth, decisions, and personalities make every page a pleasure.  The plots that authors develop and write give me the opportunity to delve into someone else's story. It's a delight to escape into a whole new world and become someone else for a little while.  I'm sure all readers feel this way, and it's a marvelous sentiment to connect with others over a shared love of books. So, today, I wanted to share three books by Kasie West which have captured my attention and interest.  Her writing is fun, flirty, and effortless. Each book is a quick read and...

Author April Erwin's Aspects of Faith

Most of us, sometimes, feel as if our heads are barely keeping above water . Even Avril Lavigne felt that way as she dealt with health issues over the last few years and her strenuous bout with Lyme disease , which is being given awareness to so many in their battle through her foundation, the Avril Lavigne Foundation .  There's a world of veterans, victims, and everyday human beings going through PTSD and dealing with mental illnesses that are suffering and need our help. Reading can be a great force against the negative, and when you find a book whose message gives you hope, you have to share it. That's my motivation in bringing you a new book today. Author April Erwin joined me a couple of years ago with her first book in the Heroes of Justice series: Justice Burning . In that interview, she shared what inspired her story and how it evolved. Feel free to check it out here: A Favorite: Guest Author April Erwin : Now, April gives me some insight into her newest book: Th...
