Thanks, Author Mike Miracle, for joining us!

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Originally from the east coast, Mike Miracle and his family now reside on a farm in the Midwest. Mike was able to use his programming skills to start his own small business from home, where every day is casual Friday. The title of my book is ‘The Next’, it is my first published book. The genre, science fiction with drama/thriller wrapped around it like a chalupa. I’m in self-publishing.

2. How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
Well, I’ve only written 1, it’s the winner so far. After I put the finishing touches on book 2??? It’s like asking a parent which child is their favorite. I’ll tell you but you have to promise not to tell them…

3. What’s your favorite under-appreciated novel?
‘Child 44’ by Tom Rob Smith.

4. If you could tell your younger self anything, what would it be?
Lottery numbers, or maybe a stock tip or two.

5. Does writing energize or exhaust you?
Oh, it’s definitely energizing. It’s exciting to watch and feel the story take shape. Some scenes can be tedious, or maybe they need to be rewritten a few times. But that just jacks up the ‘ah ha’ feelings towards it.

6. Music or silence?
Silence. The story must have the ability to grow on its own. Can’t be influenced by smooth jazz or Loverboy. ‘Lovin’ every minute of it’ can be played after a successful chapter. Full disclosure, I had to google that for the correct spelling, and I watched the video. The 80’s were a weird time indeed.

7. What was your hardest scene to write?
It would have to be about a character named Peaches. She’s had a rough go of it in recent years. I don’t want to give too much of the story away. Let’s just say that Peaches had issues after a head injury, or two, remembering things. It’s not easy to write something from the perspective of someone who is having difficulties like that. You want to be creative and unique with the situation, but you don’t want to go too far off into the weeds and lose the reader.

8. Are you working on a new story now? What details can you reveal about it at this time?
‘The Next’ will be a series of books. I don’t know how many just yet, I’m nearly finished with the second, and it feels like the third installment is taking shape.

9. Do you have any suggestions for those who want to become a writer?
Tell your story. It’s very therapeutic. Even if you never publish it, writing is very satisfying. If you do want to publish it then there are many options for the independent author these days.

Here are two versions of Author Mike Miracle's new book cover for The Next. Which do you like best (please feel free to vote below)?
